The 2 Most Useless Gadgets Ever
The main aim of a gadget is to make our lives easier and thankfully most of the gadgets we have today do just that. There are people around today that would not be alive if gadgets like distress beacons hadn’t alerted the coast guard to their peril. We also have gadgets like valves that regulate our hearts and there are many people still alive today because of these. So why then do large marketing budgets get spent on products that are obviously trying to solve a problems that doesn’t exist or at least didn’t until it was pointed out?
The following are a couple of these so called ‘useless’ gadgets and you may have asked the question ‘what were they thinking’ when they brought these out.
Mini Disc Players were devices that were popular for about as long as it takes us to yawn. The aim of these devices was to solve a problem that we didn’t actually have by trying to reduce the size of our personal electronic devices. The price of the mini disc player put a lot of people off and they still had the same issues as our standard personal CD players because they still shook when we walked; another issue was the fact that the MP3 player came out soon afterwards and this was a far superior device. This really became an expensive ornament for many people.
Soda Stream was a gadget that would allow kids to make their own fizzy drinks at home and to be perfectly honest it really wasn’t worth the time or effort involved. This novelty item allowed children to make their own fizzy drinks but it really was nothing more than a novelty item. However as people began to realise how expensive it actually was to make these fizzy drinks and how inconvenient it was, popularity began to wane.
R4i are items found in many things in today’s day and age. An RD card is a good example. Another thing that you’ll find widely accessible is the ps3 jailbreak.
